Track Day Insurance

WE'LL CALL YOUOrGET A QUOTE

If you own a Suzuki – and especially if you own a GSX-R – then chances are you may consider a track day at some stage so you can really explore the potential of your bike in a legal and safety-controlled environment.

Track days are halcyon times spent gelling with your motorcycle, learning its limits and your own and enjoying the adrenaline rush of speed and performance – with your mates or friends you meet on the day.

When you ride your pride and joy on a track you are not normally covered by your insurance for any damage to your motorcycle. As this is such a popular activity with Suzuki owners, Suzuki Motorcycle Insurance has set up special insurance cover for track days.

Completely flexible, you can insure against a single track day or a number in a given period.

No-one wants to crash and this insurance policy simply gives you peace of mind that if you do come off on track your Suzuki is covered. You must have policy with Suzuki Motorcycle Insurance for this track day insurance to be added. For more details, call Suzuki Motorcycle Insurance on 0844 888 7575.

The terms and conditions

What your Policy covers:

  • External accident damage (i.e. impact) to the bike only whilst engaged in the specified track day activity.
  • Fire damage but only if directly following an accident (i.e. impact).
  • The costs of repairing the bike or, if insurers decide, pay you or the legal owner (should the bike be subject to hire purchase or lease) an amount in full settlement. Any amount paid cannot be more than the bike's market value at the time of the accident and all claims are subject to an excess/deductible as shown on the Trackday Insurance details. Where the bike is insured for the full market value, in the event the claim is settled as a total loss the insurers have the right to decide to keep the salvage. Insurers can choose either of these alternatives.

What your Policy does not cover:

  • Internal damage to the engine or to the gearbox or transmission.
  • Mechanical, electrical or computer breakdown, howsoever caused.
  • Liability to other participants, to any third parties or to passengers or any property damage.
  • Competitive riding, (in other words, whilst racing or on timed runs or trials).
  • Consumable items such as tyres, oils, linings etc.
  • Extra costs involved in repairing specialised paintwork and logos unless specifically agreed.
  • Shipping / Transportation / Recovery costs.

Definitions: Depending on the type of cover you choose

TOTAL LOSS ONLY COVER: When damage to structural components (not the “pretty bits” – see below) means that the cost of repairs or replacement would exceed the market value of the bike. This would result in the bike being written off and the insured would be paid the market value of the bike less the policy excess.

GROUND UP COVER: The cost of repairs or replacement of structural components (again, not the “pretty bits” - see below) is covered, up to the point that insurers decide that the bike is uneconomical to repair when the bike will be written off and the market value paid less the excess, as above.

STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS: Think of what is called a “naked bike”. Every component is necessary – the mirrors, handlebars, levers, speedo&tach , footrests, exhaust and silencers, forks&suspension, steering yokes, frames&subframes, wheels and all associated components, discs & calipers, master cylinders, tank, tail-lamps etc. Otherwise they are:

PRETTY BITS (Bodywork & Fairings): Top fairings, cowlings, seat cowls & fairings, side panels, infills, windshields and fairing screens, belly pans, air ducts, inspection panels, undertrays, huggers and any other components that could be described as such.

This, together with your Application, Trackday Insurance Details and any formal amendments, sets out the terms of your policy. You should check all details of your insurance and satisfy yourself that it is entirely in accordance with your understanding and instructions. Anything at variance with this understanding and instruction should be advised to us immediately quoting your unique reference number (e.g. TD123) from this website. We do not issue any further policy documentation beyond your Trackday Insurance Details.

The Duty of Disclosure

This contract of insurance has been based upon information you have provided. You must inform us immediately of any changes in this information. It is your duty to pass on to us all material information relating to the risk. Material information does not necessarily have to increase the risk. In the event of a breach of this duty of disclosure, insurers do have the right to void this insurance contract from inception. Under such circumstances, the insurers would be entitled to seek recovery of any claims that have already been paid by them under the contract although insurers would generally be obliged to return any paid premiums. If you are in any doubt as to the ambit of the duty of disclosure, you should have no hesitation in contacting us - info@moris.co.uk.

Policy Changes

If the date(s) / circuit(s) and / or organiser(s) have changed you can advise us by clicking on to "My Dates". Please read the instructions carefully. All other changes are to be notified to us by email or fax and we will confirm whether or not insurers have agreed to such changes. Sorry, but insurers will not accept changes or cancellations retrospectively.

Policy Cancellation

Please refer to "My Dates". If you do not have a replacement date, you will need to specify on the page whether you wish your premium to be returned (less a £15 administration fee) or wish that we retain the premium until a new date is known. When you do know the new date you must of course notify us by completing part 2 of the page being Dates on track. Insurers retain the right to cancel the policy at anytime by providing 7 days written notice. The premium shall be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. Should claims exceed the premium, there will be no return of premium. Any amendments may be subject to an administration charge of £15.00.

Other Exclusions

We will not pay claims arising from:

  1. any fraudulent, dishonest or criminal act.
  2. war, riot, revolution or any similar event.

  5. the radioactive, toxic, explosive or other dangerous properties of any explosive nuclear equipment.
  6. damage due to wear and tear or gradual deterioration.
  7. loss of cash, currency, bank notes, travellers' cheques, passports, driving licence, petrol coupons, tickets, security documents or household effects.

Underinsurance / Average

This policy requires that the vehicle is insured for the correct market value. If you are under insured, in the event of a claim insurers will pay less and their settlement figure will be proportionate to the amount of under insurance.

Claims (Refer also to 'Claims Procedure')

In the event of a claim, or in the event of an accident which could give rise to a claim it is warranted that: a) photographs are taken of the damaged car PRIOR to removal from circuit. Photographs should show all damage. b) Notify us online within 48 hours of the accident.

Estimates may be obtained but no repair work is to be undertaken without prior permission from insurers.

Complaints

We try our very best to promote straight forward uncomplicated insurance services, however we recognise that occasionally there may be feedback which expresses displeasure. This feedback is important to us and in the first instance we would request that you write to:

Compliance Officer, Everitt Boles Ltd, 15 St Helen's Place, London, EC3 6DE.

Upon notification of a complaint, we will enter all relevant details in our Complaints Book such as the nature of the complaint and the relevant FSA classification. We will gather together all necessary paperwork and information. We will then consider the matter in detail.

It will be our aim to address the matter immediately and we would hope to acknowledge any complaint within two working days after receipt of the complaint. If we need to carry out further internal investigations, we would hope to revert within a week. We would expect to give our final response within a month. If it appears that we need further time, we will write detailing the revised timescale and the reasons for the delay. If we are unable to resolve the issues within eight weeks, we will again write and advise you of the facilities offered by the Financial Ombudsman Service (“FOS”) and enclose their leaflet should you wish to refer the matter to them.

When we have completed our research into the matter, we will write detailing our response to the complaint.

There are two options here:

  1. We will consider the matter closed when we have sent you the Final Response Letter or our offer is accepted or we hear nothing within eight weeks from the date of our written response.
  2. We are required by the FSA to report to them every six months (April – September and October – March) advising them of the number and type of all complaints received and their outcome.

The Financial Ombudsman Service are at:
